The folks I know closest to the negotiations weren't surprised in the least. Of course the pressure needs to keep coming from all fronts. If anything, this latest development emphasizes the urgent need for individual and collective initiative to develop, implement, and share visionary solutions (as opposed to waiting for the political process will be the ultimate arbiter of hope). Both are important, but most of can actually do something about the former...
